The Sydney Banjo band still continues strongly and the last rehearsal for 2016 is coming up on the Thursday 15th December 2016...the several of us will be at the 71st Australian Jazz Convention at Ballarat in Victoria from the 26th to 31st December 2016. 
The SBB will play two sets there with other banjo players from other areas in Australia who can't get to the Sydney rehearsal due to distance etc...we are looking forward to meeting up with them....
Next year, 2017, rehearsal dates are finalised....

Same venue, Club Ashfield in Charlotte Street, Ashfield, beside Ashfield Railway Station ...playing starts 6.45pm to 9pm...many of us meet earlier for a meal in the Club's bistro or for socialising. 

The bistro opens 5.30pm....

 I mentioned a previous special rehearsal.....

On 6th March 2012 I organised for those interested in the band to attend the former Sydney Harbour ferry, the "South Steyne" moored in Darling Harbour as a restaurant..where we played and then had a meal.....

 Sadly the "South Steyne" was removed from the Darling Harbour mooring, supposedly for wharf restoration and has been at a mooring in Berry's Bay for almost a year....

The Sydney Banjo Band has been having monthly rehearsal for several years now and continues it with dates, listed below for the rest of this year 2016.
Recently...Wednesday 18th May 2016 we had our monthly rehearsal at Club Ashfield,a few photos from the night.
We continues to see people finding the group and four more have started to come...mandolin,banjo ukulele,ukulele- they all fit in.

Rehearsals are still at Club Ashfield, 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield...beside the Ashfield Railway Station on the northern or Parramatta Rd side.....parking in the street or at the Club's carpark, cnr. Bland and Elizabeth St, entrance through the nearby petrol service station.
On the first floor in the Charlotte function room beside the bistro.
We start playing 6.45pm through to 9pm, we supply the chords for all the tunes we play on the night and the rehearsal is free.
We have some 10 or more stringed instruments with often a piano, tuba/trombone and snare drums to assist in time keeping.
Many of us meet up from 5.15pm in the bistro for socialising, a drink and or a meal before the night starts.
